Restaurants in Guadalajara come in every shape, size, colour and flavour. Visiting the city’s “Zona Rosa”, or “Pink Zone”, a strip of trendy restaurants and bars in Chapultapec, has become a habit for us locals. But can I share with you a secret? Not all of the best places are on Lopez Cotilla, one of the main avenues of Chapultapec. Explore the surrounding side streets and you will find hidden but charming places with good food and good wine. The best thing is that not many people know about these places, so every time we go we know there will be a table waiting for us.
Going out for dinner has really become a habit for my boyfriend and me. We love it! We enjoy a good meal paired with a good beer, maybe a wine or two, and of course a good conversation. He tells me about the films he wants to make and I tell him about the trips I want to take. We can spend hours like this.
When we go out, I don’t like waiting for hours to get a table. Hip places in the Zona Rosa are always full, and you can expect to have to queue. What I want is to have a good time, eat tasty food and enjoy a couple of drinks without anyone bothering me.
This is why I want to tell you about a little restaurant that hasn’t been open for that long. It is located at #135 Lope de Vega St. and it is called Tres & More. It’s an old house that has been renovated, with a terrace overlooking the street and an open air patio where you can enjoy your dinner. The restaurant is packed full of wooden decorations and paintings by Mexican artists that are also for sale. In the patio, a small orchard gives the place a very chic touch.
But let me tell you about the food. It is delicious.
I really enjoy the Chilorio pizza. It’s an unusual combination of flavours that I’ve never seen before. Chilorio, slow-simmered pork shredded and fried with chile and spices, is a typical dish from the northern state of Sonora and by no means a typical pizza topping. This wood-fired pizza is accompanied by moron chilli, an unexpected yet delicious combination of flavours if you’re in the mood for something different. It’s not the only unusual pizza on the menu. There’s even a pork chop pizza, if you dare. There are also a whole variety of entrees (I’ve enjoyed the asparagus and tuna tart) as well as chicken and pasta dishes.
Every day they also have special drink offers, like 2 for1 beers, or a cheaper wine of the day.
For me, there are three great reasons to keep coming back to this place:
1. Good prices
2.-Good food
3.-Good location
So if you come to Guadalajara, you know where to go for dinner.
MEET THE LOCAL: MONTSE ZAVALA
Como es costumbre mi novio y yo siempre salimos a comer o a cenar, ¡nos encanta!, disfrutamos de una buena cena acompañado de una buena cerveza o algún que otro vinito y por su puesto una buena platica, donde siempre el me habla de sus películas que quiere realizar y yo de los viajes que quiero hacer y ahí podemos pasar horas.
Podría decir que conocemos muchos restaurantes aquí en Guadalajara y bueno hay miles, de todos colores y sabores; visitar la zona rosa ya se volvió una costumbre para nosotros los tapatíos, pero ¿les digo un secreto? no todo está sobre la calle de López Cotilla, en las calles aledañas podemos encontrar lugares muy agradables, con buena comida, buen vino y lo mejor es que no son tan concurridos así que siempre estará una mesa libre para nosotros.
A mí en lo personal me molesta llegar y tener que esperar las horas, lógico, el lugar está de moda y está atascado. Aparte que lo que uno quiere es ir a pasar un rato agradable, comer rico y tomarse un par de cervezas, sin ser molestado.
Así que les quiero contar de un pequeño restaurante que nos recomendaron, no lleva mucho en la ciudad, el establecimiento está ubicado es la calle Lope de Vega número 135, “Tres & more” lleva por nombre, básicamente es una casa que acondicionaron, con una pequeña terraza que da hacía la calle y atrás lo que fuera el patio también podemos encontrar espacio al aire libre para comer o cenar. La decoración es de madera, con cuadros de artísticas mexicanos a la venta. En el patio, encontramos una pequeña hortaliza que le da un toque muy chic al lugar, pero mejor les cuento de la comida.
De la carta lo que me llamó la atención fue la pizza de chilorio, combinación extraña que nunca antes se había visto; el chilorio es un platillo típico del estado de Sonora el cual queda al noroeste del país y consta de carne de cerdo desmenuzada condimentada con varias especias.
Y para serles sinceros estaba muy buena, venía con un poco de chile morrón y era a la leña, así que es una buena opción para probar.
La carta cuenta con entradas como espárragos, tártara de atún entre otros, de plato fuerte nos podemos encontrar con pizzas muy peculiares como la que les acabo de comentar, incluso existe una de chuleta, también hay cortes, pollo y pasta.
Todos los días manejan promociones como cervezas 2×1, copas de vino a un menor precio, etc.
Recomendadísimo el lugar para pasar un rato agradable ya sea con tu pareja o con amigos, se puede platicar muy a gusto y comer exquisito.
Así que tienen 3 buenas razones para venir a este lugar:
1.- Buenos precios
2.- Buena comida
3.- Buena localización
Así que si vienen a la cuidad ya saben dónde pueden ir a cenar, ¡les va a encantar!
